If A Tree Falls In The Forest …

Yesterday, Brad Pitt and I had a very profound conversation that I feel is necessary to share….

Me: You know how people are always saying “If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it, does it still fall?” Well, today when I was walking the dogs I figured out that yes, indeed, it does still fall!!

Brad Pitt: Katie. [Said in a tone like Katie, get with it.] Its actually “If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound.”

Me: Oh. [long pause] Well I guess we still don’t know the answer then, do we?

I suppose philosophers around the world still have their work cut out for them. But I know damn well that the tree definitely does fall, whether or not anyone is around to hear it.
